Jorn Olsen Photography

FINE ART IMAGES – LANDSCAPE, NATURE, & CULTURAL THEMES

About Us

Jorn C. Olsen lives in Hastings, Nebraska with his wife, Mary. He grew up in Portland, Oregon where his family spent significant time camping, fishing, hunting, and traveling in the western United States and Canada. These experiences instilled a deep appreciation for the outdoors and wildlife.

Jorn attended Oregon State University and received a MBA from Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. He is employed by the Dutton-Lainson Company in Hastings, as Vice-President of Data Processing. He is the father of two children: Christopher, who lives in Austin, Texas, and Erica, who lives in Los Angeles.

In 1997, Jorn purchased his first digital camera and became enthralled with the possibilities of digital photography. In January 2005, he purchased a wide format color printer and began printing large photographs for friends, who encouraged him to market his work. He began the task of examining and refining eight years of photographs to create a collection he could market.

Most of the photos in his early portfolio were taken in Nebraska. The photographs of an unusual and spectacular Mammatus Cloud formation, he captured on June 12, 2004, have brought him a great deal of notoriety. He now has expanded his collection beyond the borders of Nebraska.

Jorn’s photographs have been published in books, calendars, billboards, magazines, and newspapers throughout the world, including The London Times, Focus Magazine, Readers Digest International, and Nebraska Life Magazine. He has also won awards, including Best of Show, at photography competitions and juried art exhibits. His current body of work is primarily oriented towards Landscape, Nature, Wildlife, and Nebraska Cultural themes. Many of his most popular works are the striking landscape panoramas he creates by stitching multiple images together and can be printed up to 50 feet long.
Jorn has recently completed a project with the Grand Island Regional Hospital, which consisted of 89 floor to ceiling landscape and nature murals printed on wallcovering. The prints were approximately 10 feet 6 inches high and ranged from 5 feet to 31 feet wide.
